The Phoenix Symphony announced on April 8 the appointment of Paolo Bortolameolli as its next Virginia G. Piper Music Director, marking what the organization describes as a significant moment in its history.
Selecting a music director is described by the Symphony as one of the most important decisions for an orchestra, shaping both artistic direction and community engagement for years to come. The announcement highlights that Bortolameolli’s leadership is expected to begin a new chapter for both the orchestra and its audience.
Peter Kjome, President and CEO of The Phoenix Symphony, said, “Paolo’s appointment marks a bold new chapter for our Symphony and the community we serve. He is the right artistic leader for our great orchestra at this important moment. We invite you to learn more about Paolo and subscribe to the 2026/27 Season.” Kjome also expressed gratitude towards supporters: “Our community is home to this great orchestra because of you. Thank you for your attendance and support of The Phoenix Symphony. I welcome your thoughts at [email protected].”
The organization reported ongoing growth in national reputation due to its musicians’ artistry and noted continued expansion in Community Engagement & Education programs, which reach over 100,000 Arizonans each year through partnerships with local organizations.
Kjome also mentioned progress in fundraising efforts through the CRESCENDO Campaign: “Your support at this vital moment is an investment in the Symphony’s future. We invite you to learn more and make a gift.” Donors are encouraged to contribute before December 31 so their gifts can help reach a $250,000 goal.
In addition, The Phoenix Symphony announced that its ticketing system will be temporarily unavailable from May 1 at 9:00 PM until May 2 at 6:00 AM due to scheduled maintenance.
