Phoenix police are currently investigating a fatal collision involving a motorcycle and a car in North Phoenix. The incident occurred on December 8, 2024, around 2:45 p.m. at the intersection of 7th Street and Deer Valley Road.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a man lying on the roadway and a vehicle stopped nearby. Emergency services provided aid to both individuals involved in the crash. The motorcyclist, identified as 34-year-old Braiden Lawson, was transported to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the vehicle was also hospitalized but with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to preliminary information from detectives, Lawson was traveling westbound on Deer Valley Road at high speed when he ran a red light and collided with a black Chevrolet Malibu that was making a left turn to head eastbound on Deer Valley Road.
The investigation is ongoing as detectives continue to gather evidence related to the incident.
