U.S. Bureau of Land Management issued the following announcement on Nov. 2.
Unusually warm and dry conditions persist in Arizona, and fire activity continues across the state. As outdoor recreation increases in the Phoenix District, public lands users are reminded that BLM lands administered by the Phoenix District in Maricopa, Pima, Pinal and Yavapai counties, including the Sonoran Desert National Monument and Agua Fria National Monument, remain under fire restrictions.
The following activities continue to be restricted until further notice:
- Building or using a fire, campfire, charcoal broiler, or wood stove. Use of propane and petroleum-fueled stoves, lanterns or heating devices is currently allowed.
- Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site/improved site or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable materials.
- Discharging a firearm (no target shooting or other shooting) outside of taking game in accordance with Arizona hunting laws in hunting season.
Fireworks, airborne luminaries, tracer ammunition, explosives, incendiary devices of combustible or explosive composition are prohibited year-round and apply to all BLM-managed lands within Arizona.
Violation of fire restrictions is punishable, subject to a fine, imprisonment, or both.
