Arizona lawmakers propose a new law under which transgender girls and women will not be allowed to participate in any women sporting events at any level.
According to Arizona Capital Times, the lawmakers of Arizona State House showed a divided opinion on whether or not trans women should be allowed to participate in women’s sporting events. The vote ended in favor of the law, and now Arizona K-12 schools, colleges and state universities will effectively bar trans females from participating in women and girls’ sports competitions regardless of their gender identity.
This rule also applies to trans females who have undergone sex reassignment and a genetic test will be carried out for athletes whose sex is under dispute.
“This law will put an end to female athletes being forced to compete in sports against biological males," said Republican Rep. Nancy Barto.
