Shannon Smith has been chosen as the next Director of Community Education for Madison, according to a May 21 announcement. Smith is currently the Assistant Principal at Madison Traditional Academy.

The appointment is significant for the district’s efforts to enhance engagement and support across its schools. The Director of Community Education plays a key role in developing programs and services that benefit students, families, and staff.

“Ms. Smith brings valuable leadership experience, a strong commitment to student and family engagement, and a passion for supporting school communities,” the statement said. “In her new role, she will help lead and strengthen community education programs and services across the district.”

District officials said they are looking forward to having Smith join the Educational Services team. “We are thrilled to welcome her expertise to the Educational Services team and look forward to the positive impact she will continue to make for Madison students, families, and staff,” they said.

Smith’s selection marks a transition in leadership aimed at continuing growth in community education initiatives throughout Madison schools.
