Senator Mark Finchem, who represents Arizona’s 1st Senate District, announced several legislative initiatives and criticisms on his social media account on January 12, 2026.
In a post published at 18:46 UTC, Finchem stated, “I’ve filed SCM1003 to urge a constitutional amendment that restores Arizona’s authority over campaign finance and ends federal overreach that undermines our state’s election integrity.”
Shortly after, at 18:47 UTC, he posted about another measure: “I’m advancing SCR1008 to put a voter-driven clarification of Arizona’s surrogacy laws on the ballot, ensuring clearer and more protective family statutes.”
At 18:48 UTC, Finchem addressed local government transparency in Prescott City. He wrote, “I called out Prescott City’s deceptive press release on the Hanna case, emphasizing that Arizona law provides no immunity for officials who commit illegal acts, violate open meeting laws, or misuse taxpayer dollars to cover up wrongdoing.”
Finchem was elected as a Republican to the Arizona State Senate in 2025 for the state’s 1st Senate District. He succeeded Ken Bennett in this role.
