Senator Mark Finchem criticizes Democrats over DHS funding and questions judge’s impartiality

Senator Mark Finchem, a Republican representing Arizona’s 1st Senate District since 2025, has recently used his social media platform to criticize Democratic actions regarding Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funding and to comment on judicial matters.

On March 13, 2026, Finchem posted: “While Democrats are holding DHS’s funding hostage to punish ICE, I guess they forgot that funding for ICE was secured in the One Big Beautiful Bill last year. That means Democrats are actually punishing other DHS agencies like the TSA, FEMA, and Coast Guard. It never ends with”.

Two days later, on March 15, 2026, he continued his criticism by stating: “Democrats hold America hostage again. @DC_Draino @KariLake https://t.co/l09fqXiJbx”.

Later that same day, Finchem questioned the impartiality of a judge by posting: “Let me guess, Judge Eric Goodman is a Soros funded activist judge? @libsoftiktok https://t.co/QuvStfdsGL”.

Finchem succeeded Ken Bennett as state senator after being elected in 2025 to represent Arizona’s 1st Senate District.
