Senator Mark Finchem, a Republican representing Arizona’s 1st Senate District since 2025, recently shared a series of posts on his X (formerly Twitter) account covering topics from popular culture to political commentary.

On February 17, 2026, Finchem referenced the character Augustus “Gus” McCrae from the television miniseries “Lonesome Dove,” writing: “Augustus “Gus” McCrae, Gus was a charismatic, witty, philosophical retired Texas Ranger and co-owner of the Hat Creek Cattle Company in the dusty town of Lonesome Dove, Texas. Alongside his stoic partner Woodrow F. Call (played by Tommy Lee Jones), Gus embarked on a grand cattle https://t.co/5pa5KV6Ga9”.

Later that same day, Finchem reflected on political events from late 2020. He posted: “Thinking about where we would be today if @SonnyBorrelli and @Leo4AzSenate had not backed me when our constituents asked for an inquest. @TheSCIF . November 30, 2020, the same day Gov. Doug Ducey signed off on the fraud, while the hearing was underway. @realDonaldTrump @GenFlynn https://t.co/P7tTfbsv5o”. In this message, Finchem recalled support from fellow state legislators Sonny Borrelli and Leo Biasiucci during efforts related to an inquest following the 2020 election certification by then-Governor Doug Ducey.

On February 18, 2026, Finchem criticized a member of Congress with the statement: “And this dipshit is in Congress? Oy vie. I think here donors are entitled to a refund. https://t.co/hpzAkd3Nn7”.

Finchem succeeded Ken Bennett as state senator for Arizona’s 1st Senate District after being elected in 2025.
