The S’edav Va’aki Museum has opened applications for its Spring Teen Volunteer Program, inviting local teens to participate in hands-on learning and community engagement. The program is available to individuals aged 14 to 17, with applications accepted until January 10, 2026.
Teens who took part in the fall session are eligible to return as Teen Leaders. In this expanded role, they will assist in training new volunteers, lead activities, and help develop new materials for museum programs.
During the previous semester, ten teen volunteers contributed over 100 hours at the museum. Their responsibilities included working with microscopes, leading activities such as the Parched exhibit and Detective Archaeology, and handling authentic artifacts. Volunteers also had opportunities to interact with the City Archaeologist for insights into the profession.
Teen volunteers played a key role in events like International Archaeology Day by demonstrating skills such as atlatl spear throwing and pottery making. They also supported activities during the 7th Annual Portal Fest and participated in cultural celebrations at the 48th Annual Indian Market.
According to the museum, “This fall was more than just volunteering, it was hands-on learning, meeting new people, and making memories. Our teens did an incredible job during one of the museum’s busiest seasons.”
The program aims to help participants build professional skills relevant to museums while contributing positively to their community. Interested teens can apply online through this link: https://forms.office.com/g/EW1Jzq9P5w
