Arizona House Representative Pamela Carter recently expressed her gratitude to Detective Julio Chavez of the Arizona State Gang Task Force, acknowledging the efforts of officers in safeguarding youth from gang involvement.

“Such a blessing to meet Detective Julio Chavez,” said Carter Carter, State Representative from Arizona. “Head of the Arizona State Gang Task Force. Kids as young as 12 years old are recruited into the gang life. Thank you to all of our officers for protecting our kids.”

Carter attended the AZLEOS Shop with a Cop event, an initiative designed to foster trust and community engagement by bringing law enforcement and children together during the holiday season. The event underscores police efforts to support at-risk youth and enhance public safety partnerships.

According to Arizona law enforcement agencies, there are ongoing challenges with gang recruitment, particularly among juveniles. The Arizona Department of Public Safety’s Gang Task Force is focused on prevention, intelligence sharing, and community programs aimed at youth outreach.

Nationwide data from the National Gang Center estimates that nearly 30,000 youth are involved in gang activity annually. This statistic highlights the necessity for early intervention and collaboration between law enforcement and communities to protect vulnerable populations.

Carter is recognized as a conservative Arizona House representative who advocates for law enforcement, public safety, and family-focused policies. She supports community-based policing strategies and partnerships aimed at shielding children from crime and exploitation.
