PVSchools high school students participated in the Southwest Space Settlement Design Competition held at Biosphere 2. The event featured a 23-hour challenge where students worked in company teams to design a space settlement on Venus. The winning team nominated 12 students to move forward to the International Space Settlement Design Competition, which will take place in Florida in July 2026. Seven of these finalists are from PVSchools.
The selected students representing the winning company at the international competition are Aaron Dowd from Shadow Mountain High School; Aman Muhammed Nireetingal and Aditi Nishith from Paradise Valley High School; Malcolm Redding and Cedric Sanchez Rivera from North Canyon High School; and Liam Whelan and Miles Whelan from Pinnacle High School.
PVSchools congratulated these students, stating, “PVSchools wishes these students congratulations and best of luck at the International Space Settlement Design Competition this summer.”
Paradise Valley Unified School District, which oversees PVSchools, operates under a board of trustees and serves the Paradise Valley area in Arizona. The district focuses on engaging and inspiring students through quality instruction and dynamic learning experiences, as outlined on its official website. It promotes anti-racism, equity, and inclusion in its policies. In addition to regular schooling, it offers community learning centers and magnet programs to support student success. The district specializes in public education within the education sector.
