The Phoenix Symphony has initiated a significant fundraising effort named Crescendo: The Campaign for The Phoenix Symphony. This $60 million initiative aims to secure the future of symphonic music in Arizona as the organization approaches its 80th season.

Peter Kjome, president and CEO of The Phoenix Symphony, emphasized the campaign’s goals: “Crescendo embodies our shared vision for the Phoenix Symphony as we move together toward a bright future for our great orchestra, enriching our community today and for generations to come.” He noted that over $10 million has already been pledged, thanks to contributions from Jeanne Herberger and other supporters.

The campaign allocates $40 million to enhance the symphony’s endowment through ‘Building a Lasting Legacy,’ which supports its artistic and educational mission. An additional $20 million is dedicated to ‘Strengthening and Expanding Our Programs,’ focusing on sustaining and growing programming, education, and community engagement.

Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego expressed her support: “The Phoenix Symphony has been a vital part of our city for nearly 80 years as a cornerstone of our community’s cultural and civic identity.” She highlighted how the Crescendo campaign will contribute to a more connected future for Phoenix residents.

Honorary co-chairs Sharon and Ollie Harper, along with Kathleen and John Graham, are joined by Michele and Matt Feeney and Edie and Eric Bieber as campaign chairs. A launch event at Symphony Hall on April 29 marked the public debut of Crescendo. During this event, it was announced that the ‘Classics Series’ would be renamed the ‘Jeanne L. Herberger Classical Series’ in honor of Herberger’s substantial contribution.

Campaign Co-Chair Matt Feeney stated: “Crescendo is about ensuring that future generations continue to experience the beauty, creativity and inspiration that orchestral music brings to our lives.” He described it as an investment in cultural vitality.

Additionally, there will be scheduled downtime for their ticketing system from May 1 at 9:00 PM until May 2 at 6:00 AM. The organization apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.
