Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is preparing for increased passenger numbers during the upcoming fall break period. The airport is advising travelers to reserve parking in advance due to expected high demand.

Fall break schedules in the Phoenix area differ by school district, but most begin in late September and continue through mid-October. The busiest travel days are anticipated in the first two weeks of October, which may result in limited parking availability.

Travelers can visit skyharbor.com/parking/ to reserve parking spaces, check rates and locations, and see current availability. The website also offers a free loyalty program that allows users to earn points for future visits.

Parking reservations are available at economy lots, terminal garages, and the 24th Street Express Pay Parking facility. A new option this year is the Phoenix Sky Harbor Center Parking Garage near the Rental Car Center at 1820 E. Sky Harbor Circle South. This garage will be open by reservation only from October 3-16 at a rate of $12 per day. Shuttle service connects this location to the PHX Sky Train Station at the Rental Car Center for convenient access to terminals.

The airport recommends several tips for navigating busy periods: leave early, check roadway restrictions on their website, monitor security checkpoint wait times online or via terminal displays, use interactive maps on mobile devices for information about shops and restaurants near gates, and seek assistance from Navigator volunteers who can be identified by their purple attire.

“Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, America’s Friendliest Airport, has an annual economic impact of more than $44 billion. On an average day, approximately 1,000 aircraft and more than 130,000 passengers arrive at and depart from Phoenix Sky Harbor every day. PHX Sky Harbor is funded with airport revenue. No tax dollars are used to support the airport.”

The airport is celebrating 90 years under City of Phoenix ownership.

Breeze Airways recently announced it would begin operating flights from Phoenix Sky Harbor’s Terminal 3 to Charleston, South Carolina, and Provo, Utah starting November 2, 2022. These flights will run twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays (https://www.phoenix.gov/newsroom/aviation/2437).

In August 2022, Roxann Favors was named Assistant Director/Chief Revenue Officer for the City of Phoenix Aviation Department after nearly two decades with the city (https://www.phoenix.gov/newsroom/aviation/2447). Additionally, Jay DeWitt was appointed Assistant Director/Chief Development Officer for the department and will oversee planning, design and construction services as well as financial management (https://www.phoenix.gov/newsroom/aviation/2448).
