Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport has been actively engaging with its community through a series of updates and events shared on social media. The airport’s official Twitter account, @PHXSkyHarbor, has recently highlighted several initiatives and occurrences within the facility.
On May 13, 2025, Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport acknowledged National Military Appreciation Month by welcoming active-duty military members and their families to their USO lounge. The lounge is situated in Terminal 4, pre-security on the east end of Level 2. “We recognize National Military Appreciation Month! Active-duty military members and their families are welcome in our USO while they fly through PHX.”
In a tweet dated May 15, 2025, the airport informed travelers about a temporary closure affecting traffic flow. The westbound I-10 on-ramp at Sky Harbor Boulevard was scheduled to be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on May 14 and May 15. Drivers needing access were advised to detour via Tonto Street and Sky Harbor Circle to reach the freeway. “The WB I-10 on-ramp at Sky Harbor Blvd will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.”
On May 16, 2025, Phoenix Sky Harbor celebrated Pacific Islander culture with an event that included ukulele music and hula dancing as part of its Culture Corner initiative. The Arizona Aloha Festival contributed to this celebration by bringing an authentic aloha spirit to the airport environment. “Aloha from PHX! Today’s Pacific Islander Culture Corner celebration brought ukulele tunes, hula fun, and serious island vibes.”
These updates come amid broader developments at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, including new services announced by Breeze Airways starting November 2, 2022, from Terminal 3; Roxann Favors’ appointment as Assistant Director/Chief Revenue Officer for the City of Phoenix Aviation Department; and Jay DeWitt’s role as Assistant Director/Chief Development Officer overseeing several divisions within the department.
