Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport has shared several updates about its facilities, cultural initiatives, and new airline routes in a series of posts on its official Twitter account.
On January 8, 2026, the airport reflected on a milestone from two decades prior: “In 2006, PHX Sky Harbor opened its Rental Car Center, bringing all rental car companies under one roof for a smoother travel experience! Do you remember your first visit? #TBT #ThrowbackThursday”.
Two days later, on January 9, 2026, Phoenix Sky Harbor announced ongoing support for local arts and culture. The airport stated: “This just in! Culture Corner is ready for its second year full of exciting events, and we are thrilled to celebrate the local arts and culture in 2026 through our Culture Corner, Traveling Tunes and Airport Museum programs. Learn more at https://t.co/NLenGtC1Nr https://t.co/Mnf0sGfbX4”.
Also on January 9, 2026, the airport shared news about expanded flight options with American Airlines: “@AmericanAir is adding new routes in PHX in 2026!

These announcements come as Phoenix Sky Harbor continues to expand both its services and leadership team. In August 2022, Breeze Airways began offering service from Phoenix to Charleston and Provo twice weekly (source). Around the same time, Roxann Favors was named Assistant Director/Chief Revenue Officer of the City of Phoenix Aviation Department (source), while Jay DeWitt was appointed Assistant Director/Chief Development Officer to oversee planning and development functions within the department (source).
