Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport has announced several updates this week, including new flight routes, an anniversary for its airport train, and a job opening in its Aviation Department.

On April 7, 2026, Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport posted: “It’s #TravelTuesday! @AmericanAir announced nonstop flights from Phoenix to Abilene and to McAllen, Texas! Both offer a vibrant culture and history. Read more: https://t.co/ZBMNVPuDHA

. The announcement highlights American Airlines’ new nonstop services from Phoenix to Abilene and McAllen, Texas.

The following day, on April 8, 2026, the airport marked a milestone for its transportation system. It stated: “Happy 13th Birthday to the PHX Sky Train! 13 years ago, the PHX Sky Train opened with stations at 44th St, East Economy and Terminal 4. Since then, we’ve added stations at Terminal 3, 24th St, and the Rental Car Center. Happy birthday, PHX Sky Train! https://t.co/1d8YjBoKdY https://t.co/wtzYUTcQvB”.

Later that same day, another update was shared regarding employment opportunities: “The Aviation Department is looking for its next superstar to fill an Urban Forestry Technician position. Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport has seen recent growth in both air service offerings and leadership appointments in recent years. In August 2022, Breeze Airways announced it would begin operating twice-weekly flights from Phoenix to Charleston and Provo from Terminal 3 (source). Additionally that month, Roxann Favors was named Assistant Director/Chief Revenue Officer of the City of Phoenix Aviation Department after nearly two decades of management experience with the city (source). Jay DeWitt was also appointed as Assistant Director/Chief Development Officer to oversee several divisions within the department (source).
