The Phoenix Mercury have revealed their 2025 training camp roster and announced the signing of three players. Guards Megan McConnell and Helena Pueyo, along with forward Temira Poindexter, have joined the team under training camp contracts.
Megan McConnell, standing at 5 feet 7 inches, completed her collegiate career at Duquesne University. Over five seasons, she averaged 18.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 4.1 steals in her final season. McConnell led NCAA Division I in steals (138) and was named the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year. Her accolades at Duquesne include being a two-time Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team and two-time Atlantic 10 All-Defensive Team honoree.
Helena Pueyo, a 6-foot guard, played five years at the University of Arizona. She averaged 9.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 3.2 steals in the 2023-24 season. Pueyo concluded her college career as Arizona’s all-time steals leader. Originally drafted 22nd overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft by Connecticut, she played the last season in Spain for Basket Zaragoza.
Temira Poindexter, measuring 6 feet 2 inches, was part of Kansas State University last season where she recorded 12.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. She achieved All-Big 12 Third Team status and had previously been the 2024 AAC Player of the Year at the University of Tulsa, where she played for three seasons.
The Mercury’s 2025 WNBA season will commence on May 17 at 7 p.m. with a game against the Seattle Storm at their home venue. Tickets for the event are available on the team’s website.
