The Phoenix Housing Department and Arizona Quadel announced on Mar. 17 that they will host an Owner Open House for property owners interested in the Housing Choice Voucher program. The event is scheduled for March 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Memorial Hall in Steele Indian School Park, located at 300 E. Indian School Rd., Phoenix.
The open house aims to introduce landlords to the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program and explain how it works for property owners. Organizers say the event is designed to help expand access to quality housing by providing information and support to current and prospective landlords.
A new feature this year is the introduction of Landlord PHX, a monthly virtual forum hosted by Landlord Liaison Daniel Martinez on the first Friday of each month. The forum will allow landlords to ask questions or seek guidance related to the City of Phoenix Section 8 program.
“We’re excited to provide new resources and ongoing guidance so landlords can confidently join us in expanding access to quality housing. Landlords are essential partners in creating stable, inclusive communities here in Phoenix,” said Elenia Sotelo, Deputy Housing Director.
During the open house, breakout sessions will be held at the Phoenix Indian School Visitor Center next door. At 11 a.m., there will be a session on how landlords can request rent increases within the voucher program, including required documentation and determination processes. At noon, staff from the City of Phoenix Neighborhood Services Department will give an overview of neighborhood preservation and code compliance issues relevant to landlords.
Voucher program staff and representatives from other city departments will be available onsite to share information and provide support throughout the event. Light refreshments will be served.
