Phoenix Children’s has reached a new multi-year agreement with Cigna Healthcare, ensuring that families in Arizona who have Cigna Healthcare insurance will continue to have uninterrupted access to pediatric care at Phoenix Children’s facilities. The agreement allows children covered by Cigna Healthcare to receive a full range of services—including inpatient, outpatient, trauma, surgical, emergency, urgent, and primary care—at more than 50 Phoenix Children’s locations across the state.

“At Phoenix Children’s, it’s important to us that children maintain access to the healthcare they need from the doctors and care teams they trust,” said Phoenix Children’s President and CEO John R. Nickens IV. “We’re proud to reach this proactive agreement with Cigna that demonstrates our shared commitment to the well-being of Arizona families and partnership between health plans and providers.”

“We are committed to the health of the families we serve, and ensuring they have access to specialized care is central to that commitment,” said Pete Chuchro, general manager for Cigna Healthcare’s group employer business in Arizona. “This agreement reflects our strong relationship with Phoenix Children’s and our dedication to helping families across Arizona thrive.”

The new contract takes effect on February 1, 2026. It guarantees that families who receive their Cigna Healthcare coverage through an employer can continue accessing Phoenix Children’s services at in-network benefit levels.

Phoenix Children’s Foundation is recognized nationally as one of the top children’s hospitals and operates as one of the largest pediatric health systems in the country. Its network includes over 70 sites throughout Arizona such as campuses in Glendale and Avondale. The foundation also works with Dignity Health to expand pediatric care options for local communities. In addition to recruiting leading physicians and researchers, Phoenix Children’s conducts community health needs assessments that guide its improvement programs. More information about these efforts can be found on their official website.

Families who have questions about their coverage are encouraged to contact either Phoenix Children’s Patient Access team or Cigna Healthcare customer service using the number on their member ID card.
