Phoenix Art Museum announced on May 20 the return of its Summer Pass program, offering discounted admission from Memorial Day through Labor Day for families seeking indoor activities during the summer months. The Museum will also celebrate Juneteenth with special programming and reduced admission on June 13 in partnership with Black Rodeo USA Foundation and The Valley of the Sun Juneteenth Celebration.

The Summer Pass is available for $75 and grants unlimited general admission to two adults and all youth aged 17 and under from May 27 to September 6. Benefits include monthly film screenings, a discount at the Museum Store, art-making activities, and more. The pass can be applied toward an annual membership after Labor Day.

In addition to ongoing exhibitions, Phoenix Art Museum will host several events in June. These include SOUNDCHECK featuring local band The Joeys on June 18; new exhibition openings such as Janet Cardiff & George Bures Miller: The Instrument of Troubled Dreams and Modern Treads: The Discount Tire Poster Collection on June 13; as well as family-friendly programs like Kids Day at PhxArt, book clubs, film screenings, First Friday events, Pay-What-You-Wish Wednesdays, and military discounts throughout the summer.

The Museum highlights that “the word ‘Juneteenth’ is derived from combining the words ‘June’ and ‘nineteenth,’ in honor of the day in 1865 when Union soldiers landed in Galveston, Texas, with news that the war had ended and all enslaved peoples were free.” Organizers say this tradition has been celebrated locally for over twenty years.

According to the official website, Phoenix Art Museum operates as the largest art institution in the southwestern United States. It maintains a collection exceeding 20,000 objects spanning diverse cultures and periods while reaching hundreds of thousands of visitors annually through exhibitions and community programs. For more than sixty years it has promoted inclusivity by welcoming visitors of all abilities while providing world-class exhibitions designed to ignite imaginations and foster connections within a vibrant space dedicated to experiencing art.
