The Natrona Collective Health Trust has transferred ownership of Masterson Place to Banner Health, ensuring the continuation of affordable lodging for patients and families seeking medical care in Casper. Since 2001, Masterson Place has offered short- and long-term accommodations at $50 per night to those receiving treatment at Casper’s medical facilities.

Located at 310 S. Washington St., behind Banner Wyoming Medical Center’s Central Campus, the facility provides a practical option for individuals traveling for medical reasons. The current 14-room building was established in 2019 after a capital campaign led by the Wyoming Medical Center Foundation.

“We are honored to receive this gift from the Natrona Collective Health Trust,” said Lance Porter, chief executive officer at Banner Wyoming Medical Center. “Masterson Place represents the compassionate spirit of our community and aligns perfectly with Banner Health’s mission of making health care easier, so life can be better. As Banner Wyoming Medical Center continues to have the only Level II Trauma Center in the state and we continue to add more advanced health care programs, patients from around the state will continue to seek care in Casper. Masterson Place provides an inexpensive stay for those traveling long distances.”

Masterson Place was created through efforts led by Mary Masterson and other local residents who recognized challenges faced by out-of-town patients and their families when seeking care in Casper. Initially managed by the Wyoming Medical Center Foundation, it transitioned to Natrona Collective Health Trust in 2020 before being gifted to Banner Health.

“The Trust is delighted to return Masterson Place’s mission to where it belongs — with a patient-centered health care partner that shares our vision of compassionate care for those traveling to Casper for medical services,” said Beth Worthen, CEO of the Natrona Collective Health Trust.

As part of this transition, Banner Health will retain all three employees working at Masterson Place. The donation includes both the building and its furnishings, maintaining continuity for guests.

Each year, thousands use Masterson Place’s facilities, which include guest rooms equipped with basic amenities such as refrigerators, microwaves, coffee makers and free Wi-Fi. A large community room is available for group gatherings.

Guests are eligible if they or a loved one are receiving any type of medical care in Casper.
