Michael Sanchez has been indicted for a shooting in Buckeye that resulted in the deaths of a teenage girl and two infants, according to a May 1 announcement from Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell.

Authorities said Sanchez shot two pregnant teen girls and a young woman on May 14. The incident led to the death of his 16-year-old ex-girlfriend and her unborn baby. Another victim, a 17-year-old girl, was forced to deliver her baby early due to injuries sustained during the shooting; the newborn died days later.

A grand jury indicted Sanchez on several charges: one count of first-degree murder, classified as a dangerous domestic violence felony; another count of first-degree murder as both a dangerous domestic violence felony and a dangerous crime against children; one count of first-degree murder as a dangerous felony; two counts of attempted first-degree murder as dangerous felonies; two counts of aggravated assault as class three dangerous felonies; and one count of interference with monitoring devices, classified as a class four felony.

A second individual, Antonio Tequida, was also charged in connection with the case. Authorities said Tequida drove Sanchez away from the scene after the shooting and helped him hide. Tequida was indicted on one count of hindering prosecution in the first degree, which is classified as a class three felony.

Sanchez is being held without bond. Tequida remains in custody on $100,000 cash bond. Officials noted that all criminal charges are accusations at this stage, and both defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
