Madison Elementary School District has received the “Gold Turnip the Beet! Award” from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). This award is given to summer meal program sponsors who provide high quality, nutritious meals to children during the summer.

The district’s Food & Nutrition Services department focuses on providing healthy meals throughout the year. According to a statement from Madison Elementary School District, “Madison’s Food & Nutrition Services department is committed to supporting students year-round with healthy meals that help them grow, thrive, and return to school ready to learn!”

This recognition highlights efforts made by schools across the country to ensure students have access to appealing and nutritious food even when school is not in session.
