Madison Education Foundation awards record $11K in teacher grants

The Madison Education Foundation has awarded $11,182 in grants to teachers within the Madison Elementary School District during its recent Fall Education Teacher’s Grant cycle. This amount is the largest ever distributed in a single grant cycle by the Foundation.

Fifteen teachers from six schools received funding for various classroom projects, including those focused on STEAM education, dance rooms, art supplies, and MakerSpaces. The Foundation stated that these grants are intended to help teachers introduce new projects and enhance learning experiences for students.

The Madison Education Foundation is a non-profit organization that supports innovative educational opportunities in music and the arts for students in Madison Public Schools. More information about their initiatives can be found at madisoneducationfoundation.org.

The following educators were recognized as recipients of this year’s grants: Scott Sefranka, Courtney Flowers, Hugo Estrada-Duran, Cynthia Bradley, Michael Vontsolos, Sara Wingard, Marlo Johnson, Kaylene Bauman (all from Madison Meadows Middle School); Leigh Seibert, Sheila O’Connor, Crystal Di’Pede, Regina Francis (Madison Traditional Academy); Nicole Belden; Hannah Roussin and Denyse Diehl; Deena Woods and Kimberly Grubler; Kelly Borrego and Abbe Stormer (all from Madison Simis Elementary School); Sara Daffe and Julie Thibodeaux (Madison Park Middle School); 3rd Grade Team and Jessie McKinley (Madison Camelview Elementary School); Dr. Barbie Firkus (Madison No. 1 Middle School).
