Larry Fitzgerald, former NFL player, hosted his annual fundraiser event, Fitz’s Supper Club, at Dominick’s Steakhouse on Monday evening. This year marked the 15th iteration of the event organized for the Larry Fitzgerald Foundation.
“When we started this, I thought, ‘if we can raise $100,000, I would be ecstatic,” Fitzgerald commented. Over the years, the Supper Club has surpassed the million-dollar mark, illustrating the event’s growth and impact. Fitzgerald reflected, “when you achieve something, you always want to up the ante.”
Recalling his late mother, Carol Fitzgerald, who passed away from cancer before he entered the NFL, Fitzgerald shared that she often took him to community events during his childhood. She ingrained in him the importance of giving back. “But Mom was never one to rest on her laurels,” Fitzgerald mentioned. “She was always going to push the envelope as far as programming and fundraising.”
Having retired after the 2020 season, Fitzgerald recognized his evolving identity, from a renowned football player to a community leader. “It’s cool when people say you do a lot in the community,” he said. To Fitzgerald, this acknowledgment is as significant as being remembered for his touchdowns.
Fitzgerald also indicated his admiration for efforts made by former teammate Calais Campbell and young player Kyler Murray in their community contributions. “These guys actually care,” Fitzgerald stated.
The evening included an interview with Fitzgerald conducted by a junior reporter during the event’s red carpet portion. Kris Urban from the Arizona Cardinals captured this moment.
