Arizona State Representative Justin Wilmeth shared his experiences participating in the Regents Cup debate and storytelling competitions through a series of social media posts on March 28 and 29, 2026.
On March 28, Wilmeth described his role as moderator during the Oxford debate round two, stating: “For my second event, I moderated Oxford debate round two. So for this one, I was just keeping time and order – kinda like I do for COW on the House floor. Since I didn’t have to judge, I paid more attention to why the students were saying in terms of trying to convince folks that” (March 28, 2026).
Later that day, he commented on judging an Oxford Quarterfinals debate with a challenging topic: “Truly, one of the fascinating aspects of the Regents Cup is the topical debate prompts. Earlier this afternoon I judged an Oxford Quarterfinals debate. The topic? Physician-assisted suicide. Insanely tough topic to tackle but both teams did so admirably. @AZRegents” (March 28, 2026).
In another post on March 29, Wilmeth discussed his experience judging the Storytelling competition at the Regent’s Cup: “For the past few hours I’ve been in the realm of the other track of the Regent’s Cup – Storytelling. Unlike the structure and formality of the Oxford debates, the Storytelling competition features students and their real-life stories told loud and proud for all to hear. I judged” (March 29, 2026).
Wilmeth is a Republican who was elected to represent Arizona’s 2nd House District in 2022 after Daniel Hernández Jr., according to public records.
