Arizona State Representative Justin Wilmeth, a Republican elected in 2022 to represent the state’s 2nd House District, shared several posts on his social media account reflecting on sports and their parallels with politics.
On October 9, 2025, Wilmeth posted about public perceptions of success and failure, referencing a quote by NFL quarterback Baker Mayfield. He wrote, “Love this quote by @bakermayfield. It’s a reminder that, to most people, you’re only important to them if you’re a winner. Win and they lionize you. Lose and you’re cast aside by many. It’s like that in sports and it’s most definitely like that in politics. Keep that in mind on https://t.co/IqeHh7pnpg”.
Two days later, on October 11, 2025, Wilmeth commented on the excitement of postseason baseball. He stated, “Tonight is why playoff baseball is amazing #ALDS”.
Later the same evening, he referenced a post from the Toronto Blue Jays’ official account during an intense game: “Epic tweet from the Jays… just waiting on the winner of this insane game! https://t.co/NvI2iFxJpZ”.
Wilmeth succeeded Daniel Hernández Jr. as representative for Arizona’s 2nd House District following his election in 2022.
