After a comprehensive nationwide search, Daver Malik has been appointed as the Assistant Aviation Director and Chief Development Officer for the City of Phoenix Aviation Department. In his new role, Malik will oversee various divisions including Design & Construction Services, Planning & Environmental, and Technology at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
Malik brings over two decades of experience in the aviation industry, having worked with large hub airports and within the private sector. His previous projects include managing significant capital development programs such as the $1.5 billion Terminal 3 Modernization and PHX Sky Train Stage 2 at Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX), as well as the $2 billion International Terminal at Atlanta International Airport (ATL).
Aviation Director Chad Makovsky expressed confidence in Malik’s capabilities: “Daver’s ability to build strong relationships, align diverse stakeholders, collaborate at all levels, and lead with an innovative mindset makes him uniquely positioned for this role. I am confident that Daver’s broad experience and passion for the industry will directly shape the future of our airport system and the community we serve for generations to come.”
Malik has also led IT program delivery efforts in both Phoenix and Atlanta airports. He has driven several critical initiatives like developing a Digital Strategy and implementing a Biometrics Exit Program aimed at enhancing customer experiences.
Expressing gratitude for his new position, Malik stated: “I am grateful to our Aviation Director, Mr. Makovsky for his vision for our airports and entrusting me with this responsibility at a pivotal time.” He emphasized integrating technology into infrastructure design to create efficient facilities while aligning development with passenger expectations and sustainability goals.
Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport contributes significantly to the economy with an annual impact exceeding $44 billion. The airport handles approximately 1,000 aircraft operations daily without relying on tax dollars for funding.
