Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari has raised concerns regarding the treatment of immigrants in federal custody and expressed support for pro-democracy movements abroad, according to a series of posts on her official social media account.

On January 9, 2026, Ansari addressed ongoing questions about immigration enforcement practices, stating: “.@SecNoem still owes the public answers on many fronts. I’ve requested information about reports that ICE is planning to detain immigrants in industrial warehouse facilities in Glendale. If @DHSgov is moving forward with this plan, it must immediately disclose how it will”.

The following day, she commented on fatalities within U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention centers since 2017: “34 deaths in ICE custody since Trump was inaugurated. We should be ashamed of ourselves.” (January 10, 2026).

Also on January 10, Ansari voiced support for Iranian demonstrators seeking political change: “Iranian people are showing profound bravery in their fight for freedom—and they deserve our solidarity. This isn’t partisan.”

Yassamin Ansari was elected to Congress in 2024 after defeating Jeff Zink with approximately 71% of the vote to Zink’s 27%.
