Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari has recently voiced concerns on social media regarding the Trump administration’s immigration policies and their impact on Iranian nationals and detention facilities. In a series of posts, Ansari highlighted risks faced by international students and criticized the federal response to immigration oversight.

On April 28, 2026, Ansari posted that “The Trump Admin has frozen USCIS processing for Iranian nationals, putting 12,000+ students at risk of losing legal status. Forcing them back to Iran now puts their lives at risk from regime repression and an active war. @SenMarkey and I are demanding immediate action.”

Later that day, she expressed support for Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes’ investigation into conditions at a local immigration detention facility: “Grateful to @AZAGMayes for this decisive and bold action to follow up on my, @RepGregStanton, and @Rep_Grijalva’s scrutiny of the extremely alarming immigration detention facility in Surprise. We need immediate answers from the Trump administration, which is putting the health”

On April 29, 2026, Ansari commented on Republican responses to public pressure: “It’s almost like the Republicans only pretend to care when they’re publicly pressured.”

Yassamin Ansari was elected to Congress in 2024 after defeating Jeff Zink with over 70% of the vote. Her recent statements come amid ongoing debates about U.S. immigration policy and heightened scrutiny of administrative actions affecting foreign nationals.
