Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari, who won her seat in 2024 by defeating Jeff Zink with 70.9% of the vote, has recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing gun violence, political discourse, and medical education policy.
On May 15, 2026, Ansari criticized ATF Director Robert Cekada for his testimony regarding the Trump Administration’s immigration policies and their relation to gun violence prevention. She stated: “.@ATFHQ Director Robert Cekada LIED to my face when I asked him how the Trump Administration’s failed immigration efforts have prioritized preventing gun violence in our country. Absolutely shameful. I look forward to receiving his claims in writing.”
The following day, on May 16, Ansari commented on recent events at the White House Correspondents Dinner and broader national issues: “The events of the White House Correspondents Dinner have been made out to be many things. But one is certain—it was unsurprising. It’s not surprising that in a country facing both a gun violence crisis and a rise in political violence, Americans are once again forced to”
On May 17, she expressed appreciation for advocacy efforts by healthcare professionals: “Thank you so much to the American College of Physicians Services, including practicing physicians and med students, for coming to my office to advocate for policies to make medical school more affordable, recruit and retain more primary care physicians, and restore science-based”
Ansari’s comments come as part of her ongoing legislative focus since taking office after winning against Jeff Zink with over seventy percent of the vote in 2024.
