Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari, who won her seat in 2024 by defeating Jeff Zink with 70.9% of the vote, recently addressed several issues on her Twitter account, ranging from international affairs to domestic politics and local leadership appointments.

On January 9, 2026, Ansari commented on Iran’s political situation: “After nearly five decades of repression under the murderous Islamic Republic regime, the Iranian people deserve freedom. But I want to be clear: sustainable freedom must come from the Iranian people themselves. And the MEK is a cult—not a legitimate opposition in waiting.”

Later that day, she criticized Republican actions regarding political accountability in another post dated January 9, 2026: “If we want to talk about holding bad actors accountable for fraud and corruption, we should look no further than the Trump Administration. It’s amazing that Republicans moved so quickly to hold a hearing on Minnesota without ever having even one on the Trump criminal enterprise”.

In a subsequent tweet on January 9, 2026, Ansari acknowledged Monique Lopez’s new role as CEO of UMOM New Day Centers and discussed challenges facing Phoenix: “Monique Lopez’s appointment as UMOM New Day Centers CEO comes at a critical time for Phoenix. As the Trump Administration continues to gut funding for vital housing programs, I have no doubt that UMOM will continue to restore hope and end homelessness in Maricopa County.”

Ansari assumed office after her decisive victory over Jeff Zink in the 2024 general election.
