Phoenix Children’s has announced that Chad Johnson, who currently serves as Senior Vice President of Phoenix Children’s Care Network (PCCN), will expand his responsibilities to include oversight of the administrative operations for Phoenix Children’s Medical Group (PCMG). This move is part of a strategy to better align medical group leadership and improve patient access throughout the pediatric care system.

PCCN is a network led by physicians and includes more than 1,300 independent community-based primary care providers and specialists. PCMG employs over 1,000 providers delivering specialized services such as cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, and neurosciences. Johnson will work closely with physician leaders and operational teams in his new capacity.

“Chad’s expanded role in our health system will help us achieve greater operational efficiencies, backed by clinical excellence, that ultimately creates seamless experience for patients and families,” said John R. Nickens IV, President & CEO of Phoenix Children’s. “His collaborative leadership style, deep understanding of our physician enterprise and proven ability to align complex teams in service of our mission made him the ideal person for this role.”

Phoenix Children’s continues its commitment to building an integrated, patient-centered health system designed to simplify access to care for children and their families. The organization is recognized as one of the largest pediatric health systems in the country with over 70 locations across Arizona and a broad network of pediatric specialists. It operates campuses including sites in Glendale and Avondale while maintaining centers of excellence focused on conditions like cancer and heart disorders. More information about its facilities and services can be found at its official website.

“Creating a continuum of care for our patients and families that is simpler to navigate and built around the needs of children and their caregivers is essential,” said Johnson. “By better integrating clinical priorities with administrative operations, we’ll ensure teams can coordinate more effectively and deliver timely high-quality care.”

The leadership alignment brings all medical group operations under one structure to help address evolving healthcare needs across Arizona communities. The foundation continues to emphasize advancing child health through research initiatives, medical education programs, family-centered services, partnerships such as those with Dignity Health, and ongoing recruitment of top physicians—all part of efforts described on its official website.

Phoenix Children’s also regularly conducts community health needs assessments to guide improvement programs statewide while working toward providing accessible hope, healing, and quality healthcare for children.
