The Arizona Cardinals have not yet decided if starting quarterback Kyler Murray will play in Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers. Murray is recovering from a foot injury and has been limited in practice this week. Head coach Jonathan Gannon commented briefly on Murray’s condition, saying he is “doing well.”

During Friday’s practice, Murray threw to practice squad receivers while Jacoby Brissett, who started last week, worked with the first team. Brissett passed for 320 yards in last week’s 31-27 loss to Indianapolis, just short of his career-high. The Cardinals recorded 400 yards of offense in that game, their highest output in six games.

Brissett acknowledged the situation, saying, “There is (now) film out there of me, but whatever the case may be, when the opportunity presents itself I have to go out and do my job.”

Gannon has stated that Murray will return to play when he is healthy. The Cardinals have a bye after the Packers game, which will give Murray additional time for rest and rehabilitation. The team will face Dallas on Monday night in Week 9 after the bye.

General Manager Monti Ossenfort addressed Murray’s status during an appearance on Arizona Sports on Friday. When asked if Murray is still the team’s quarterback going forward, Ossenfort said, “I know that’s always a hot discussion and speculation. We are going to continue to progress with (Murray) and see what he can do on the field (with the injury). At the same time we have to prepare if he not ready to go. We are going to continue to try and get Kyler healthy and get him in a position where he can get back to doing the things we know he can do on the football field. When he’s doing that, he’ll be out there.

“At the same time, if he not ready to do that, Jacoby has to be ready. … Our focus is getting Kyler to a point where he can get back out there on the field and do the things we know he is capable of doing.”

Wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., who was previously in concussion protocol, participated fully in practice on Friday and does not have an injury designation for Sunday’s game.
