The Arizona Cardinals have made a strategic addition to their roster by signing tight end Josiah Deguara. The signing was announced on Monday as the team continues to build its offensive lineup following a defense-focused offseason.

Deguara, who has spent five years in the NFL, joins the Cardinals after playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars last season. He initially entered the league as a third-round draft pick for the Green Bay Packers in 2020.

Standing at 6-foot-2, Deguara has primarily contributed to special teams, accumulating over 800 snaps in that role. As a tight end, he has recorded two career touchdowns and gained 450 yards from 50 receptions. He will now be part of a tight end group led by Trey McBride.

In addition to Deguara’s acquisition, the Cardinals have also signed undrafted rookie free agent Oscar Cardenas from UTSA. The team often employs formations with multiple tight ends, making depth at this position crucial. Deguara is expected to compete with Cardenas and Travis Vokolek for playing time.

Recently, the Cardinals released Bernhard Seikovits, who had been with them for four seasons under the NFL’s international player pathway program. With Deguara joining, the team’s roster count stands at 91 players. They may utilize an available international exemption spot for undrafted rookie offensive lineman Valentin Senn.
