The Arizona Cardinals have claimed inside linebacker Austin Keys off waivers after his release from the Minnesota Vikings. This move comes as the team looks ahead to the offseason and seeks to strengthen its roster.
Austin Keys, an undrafted rookie, is under contract with the Cardinals through 2027. During his time with the Vikings, he appeared in 11 games but saw limited action on defense, playing only eight snaps and recording a sack. Most of his contributions came on special teams, where he played 191 snaps.
The Cardinals also made additional roster changes. Rookie safety Kitan Crawford, who had already been ruled out for the season finale due to an ankle injury, was placed on injured reserve. Offensive lineman Tyler Cooper was released from the practice squad.
Starting inside linebacker Mack Wilson Sr. has been sidelined since midseason because of a ribs injury. In his absence, rookie Cody Simon and Akeem Davis Gaither have filled in at linebacker, with Owen Pappoe providing depth.
