The Arizona Cardinals have announced updated plans for their new team headquarters and practice facility, set to be built at Paradise Ridge in north Phoenix. The location is situated west of Scottsdale Road and north of Loop 101.
The new complex will serve as the base for both football and business operations. It will occupy 30 acres within a larger 217-acre mixed-use development and will span more than 250,000 square feet. Completion is expected in 2028.
The Cardinals purchased the land at auction during the summer for $136 million. Their current facility, the Dignity Health Training Center in Tempe, has been home to the team since 1990 and covers 14 acres with a building size of 156,000 square feet. After initially considering an upgrade to the existing Tempe site, the organization decided on a move after further evaluation.
Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill said in a statement, “Our goal has always been to provide our players and coaches with the best possible environment to prepare and perform at the highest level. As we evaluated our options, it became clear that we needed more space than what was available at our current location or elsewhere in Tempe. We are deeply grateful to the City of Tempe for its incredible support over the past three decades and for its continued partnership. And we are just as excited to welcome this new chapter in our team’s history.”
Rossetti, an architecture firm known for designing sports facilities across North America, will collaborate with the Cardinals on this project.
Phoenix mayor Kate Gallego stated, “The Arizona Cardinals’ new headquarters and state-of-the-art practice facility is an exciting, welcome addition to our city’s Headquarters Alley. I’m grateful for this game-changing investment and the energy this project will bring to our community.”
Plans include three outdoor grass practice fields along with an indoor fieldhouse featuring a full-size turf field. Other amenities will consist of modernized locker rooms, expanded areas for weight training and conditioning, upgraded sports medicine facilities, meeting rooms, and a player lounge.
The organization also intends to work alongside the city of Phoenix and the Arizona Commerce Authority to develop other parts of Paradise Ridge into commercial spaces such as corporate offices, restaurants, retail stores, medical facilities, and residences.
