A Peoria family welcomed the new year with the birth of their daughter, Averi Ann Burns, at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center in Glendale. Born at 12:26 a.m., Averi weighed 8 pounds, 2 ounces and measured 19 inches long.
“It’s a blessing that we’re able to expand our family with baby Averi,” said Kyla Burns, who gave birth to her first child alongside her husband Jake Burns. The couple expressed excitement about starting their journey as parents.
Other Banner Health hospitals also reported early New Year’s Day births. At Banner Ocotillo Medical Center in Chandler, Santiago Aguilar was born at 12:35 a.m. to first-time parents Karina Hildago Garcia and Alejandro Aguilar. In Tucson, a baby was delivered at Banner – University Medical Center Tucson at 12:56 a.m., while Banner Wyoming Medical Center in Casper recorded its first birth of the year at 1:20 a.m. The initial New Year’s baby at Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa arrived at 6:29 a.m.
