Banner Health President and CEO Amy Perry has been named to Modern Healthcare’s 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare list for the second year in a row. The recognition highlights Banner Health’s efforts in innovation, integration, and community-focused care.

Perry joined Banner Health in November 2021. Since then, she has worked to strengthen the organization’s clinical quality, use of advanced technology, and financial stability while upholding its nonprofit mission. Banner Health is one of the largest nonprofit hospital systems in the United States and is Arizona’s biggest employer. It operates 33 hospitals across six states—including three academic medical centers—and provides health insurance coverage for 1.2 million members.

Under Perry’s leadership, Banner Health has expanded its use of artificial intelligence and clinical research to improve patient outcomes and broaden access to care. The system invests in new services, supports communities, and trains more than 1,300 medical residents and fellows each year. Its integrated approach has made it a leader in value-based care.

“This recognition reflects Banner Health’s commitment to reimagining healthcare,” Perry said. “Our system spans rural and urban communities, hospitals and clinics, medical practices and insurance, academic medicine and community health. This allows us to meet all our patients’ needs. We’ve built a model that combines exceptional care, technology, financial strength, and a people-first culture, all while honoring our nonprofit mission to serve our communities.”

Banner Health reports that 84% of its team members are satisfied with their workplace environment. The organization has received multiple Great Place to Work certifications.

“Amy’s transformative leadership continues to elevate Banner Health’s position as a national healthcare leader and innovator,” said Anne Mariucci, chair of the Banner Health board of directors. “Her vision for an integrated healthcare ecosystem that serves diverse communities, combines clinical excellence with insurance expertise, and leverages technology while maintaining the human connection is setting new standards for the industry. She’s proving that a nonprofit system with deep community roots can lead the transformation of American healthcare while making our mission to ‘make healthcare easier so life can be better’ a reality.”

Perry has also been recognized three times among Modern Healthcare’s Top 25 Women Leaders and twice on Becker’s Top 130 Women Healthcare Leaders to Know lists.

She appears at No. 55 on Modern Healthcare’s latest ranking of influential people in the sector; the full list was published on December 8 at ModernHealthcare.com/100MostInfluential.
