Tip Reiman, a tight end for the Arizona Cardinals, will miss the remainder of the 2025 NFL season after sustaining a right ankle injury during Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans. Head coach Jonathan Gannon confirmed on Monday that Reiman will be placed on Injured Reserve, ending his season.
Reiman had established himself as an important member of the Cardinals’ offense since joining as a rookie last year. While his contributions did not always show up in traditional statistics, coaches and teammates valued his intangibles and unique approach.
Gannon acknowledged the impact of losing Reiman but expressed confidence in the team’s depth at tight end. “That’s a big loss,” Gannon said. “You’ve got to overcome it. Full confidence in Trey and Elijah, and Travis has been playing extremely well on (special teams). We’ve got to pick up the slack.”
With Reiman sidelined, Travis Vokolek is expected to take on a larger role alongside Elijah Higgins and Pro Bowler Trey McBride.
Reiman was injured while attempting to catch a pass from backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett. Brissett entered the game temporarily when starting quarterback Kyler Murray left for evaluation due to a foot injury. Murray later returned, but Gannon noted that some plays could not be run because of Murray’s condition and said his status would continue to be monitored this week.
Elijah Higgins described the emotional scene when Reiman was carted off: “I was on the field and it got pretty emotional with him,” Higgins said. “I tried to be as close as I could to him in the moment. Tip is one of the guys who tries to do everything right. He has his own routine that is completely different than everyone else’s, but he does everything right. Works his ass off in the weight room, works his ass off on the field.
“I want to carry the torch of what he represents for the offense. Being a physical guy, being a mauler, so hopefully I can (do) that.”
Gannon also provided updates on other players returning from injuries. Cornerback Will Johnson played 55 snaps under a snap count restriction, while guard Will Hernandez played 23 snaps in his first action since suffering a knee injury in Week 5 last season.
