The Arizona Cardinals announced on May 13 that they have signed offensive lineman Chase Bisontis, their second-round pick from April’s draft, to a four-year rookie contract.
Bisontis is the fifth of seven draft picks to agree to terms with the team. Only third-round quarterback Carson Beck and fourth-round defensive lineman Kaleb Proctor remain unsigned. The signing is significant as Bisontis is expected to compete for a starting role at right guard, where Isaiah Adams started most games last season.
Addressing any doubts about his abilities, Bisontis said, “I just always told them, or anybody that asked, ‘just watch the film.'” The Cardinals selected him early in the second round after evaluating his performance extensively.
Voluntary workouts are currently underway for the full roster as part of Phase 2 of offseason activities. The team will move into Phase 3 and organized team activities (OTAs) beginning May 18. These sessions are important for integrating new players like Bisontis into the lineup and preparing for the upcoming season.
The Arizona Cardinals play home games in Glendale and serve the greater Phoenix area as part of the National Football League’s NFC West division. The franchise stands as the oldest continuously operating professional football team in the United States and captured an NFC championship in 2008, according to the official website.
Looking ahead, competition at right guard between Bisontis and Adams will be closely watched during OTAs. With most rookies now under contract, attention turns toward finalizing deals with Beck and Proctor before training camp.
