The Arizona Cardinals have added six undrafted rookies to their roster, three of whom are offensive linemen. This move follows the draft where they used only one of their seven picks on an offensive lineman, selecting guard Hayden Conner in the sixth round.
General Manager Monti Ossenfort expressed confidence in the incoming group. “I think there’s guys in there that have versatility to play multiple spots,” he said. “I think that’s going to be a good competition. We’ll add Hayden (Conner) in there. We signed a couple offensive linemen that you guys will hear about here in a little bit on undrafted free agency. So, there’s going to be good competition in that group all along the offensive line. We’re excited to see how that sorts out.”
Among the new recruits is tackle Josh Fryar from Ohio State, expected given the recent appointment of Justin Frye, the former offensive line coach from Ohio State. The other linemen are Jeremiah Byers from Florida State and Valentin Senn from Connecticut.
The full list of undrafted additions includes:
– OL Jeremiah Byers, Florida State
– TE Oscar Cardenas, Texas-San Antonio
– OL Josh Fryar, Ohio State
– WR Bryson Green, Wisconsin
– OL Valentin Senn, Connecticut
– DL Elijah Simmons, Tennessee
Wide receiver Bryson Green, previously with Oklahoma State and Wisconsin, is the only player in his position among the new signings. Last year, he recorded 17 receptions for 219 yards and two touchdowns in eight games with the Wisconsin Badgers.
Before joining the team officially, all six players need to undergo and pass physicals scheduled for next week, followed by participation in the rookie minicamp. Should they be signed, the Cardinals will have to release at least one current player to comply with the maximum roster cap of 91 players, which includes an international exemption.
