The Arizona Cardinals have reportedly agreed on Mar. 15 to a one-year contract with return specialist Devin Duvernay, valued at up to $2.5 million, as free agency continues into its second week.
Duvernay is expected to handle both kickoff and punt returns for the team. Last season, he played for the Chicago Bears, averaging 26.7 yards per kick return and 11.0 yards per punt return. Entering his seventh NFL season, Duvernay previously played for the Baltimore Ravens, where he averaged 13.8 yards per punt return in 2021 and earned All-Pro honors as well as a Pro Bowl selection that year. He was also named to the Pro Bowl the following season. Over his career, Duvernay has averaged 11.8 yards per punt return and 25.4 yards per kick return.
While primarily a wide receiver, Duvernay had limited offensive production last season with just five targets, two catches for 26 yards, and one touchdown. However, during his time with Baltimore, he recorded seasons of 33 and 37 receptions.
The addition of Duvernay likely signals that the Cardinals will move on from Greg Dortch, who served as their primary return man last season and is currently a free agent.
