GateWay Community College announced a $7,300 donation on behalf of 100+ Women Who Care Valley of the Sun this quarter to support students facing unexpected financial challenges.

The contribution, made through the Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation, is designated for GateWay’s Student Emergency Fund. This fund provides immediate, short-term financial assistance to students dealing with emergencies such as car repairs, medical expenses, childcare issues, or housing instability. The aim is to help students remain enrolled and focused on their studies despite unforeseen setbacks.

According to Dr. Amy Diaz, President of GateWay Community College, “At GateWay, we see firsthand how quickly unexpected challenges can impact a student’s ability to continue their education. We are incredibly grateful to 100+ Women Who Care Valley of the Sun for their generosity. Their support allows us to meet students in critical moments and help them stay on the path to success.”

The Student Emergency Fund prioritizes rapid support rather than long-term aid so that temporary setbacks do not become permanent disruptions for students. The college said this latest gift strengthens its ability to respond quickly when students need help most.

Since 2015, 100+ Women Who Care Valley of the Sun has donated more than $1.5 million to nonprofits across the region. GateWay Community College said it values partnerships with organizations committed to removing barriers and expanding opportunities for students.
